Natural Stainless (2B mill finish) has been referred to as an “honest” product. It began to grace some monumental structures in the late 1920’s such as the Chrysler building in New York City, which is still beautiful after more than 80 years without a sign of corrosion. Millennium Tiles has also created an etched product which we call “Pewter”; a less shiny product that radiates understated elegance. Designers have found ways to mix the two surfaces in clever ways. Stainless Steel has outstanding physical characteristics that make it the toughest material for roof or walls. It is also the material that can collect potable water and is
recyclable while being highly recycled.
Light Interference Color (LIC) is an electrochemical process which thickens the naturally occurring chromium oxide on stainless steel. The clear oxide layer acts like the raindrop which creates the rainbow. Wheat, bronze, slate, purple, blue, red, and green are just some of the colors obtained. Since the color is only perceived and it is only light interference on the surface of the material, UV cannot effect the color. Installations more than 30 years old have not shown any change. LIC creates more artistic variable colors than the uniform static color of paint. Since the color is dependent on light; light conditions and viewing angles will have a varying effect on the precieved color. LIC is avaible on our preformed products or sheets up to 48” X 120”.
TiNi colors are achieved by vapor deposition. Various nitrides are plasmatised to fuse with stainless steel. These surfaces are extremely hard and are traditionally used as wear surfaces. TiNi Colors are available in imperial gold, permanent copper, antique bronze, royal blue, and peacock. The color will remain constant over time and will create a more uniform appearance than light interference color (LIC). TiNi is available on our preformed products or 48” X 120” Sheets. The finish can be applied on various surfaces from a standard dull to a bright mirror.
Zalmag® shingles and custom made panels are affordable and have a service expectancy of a lifetime or two. Zalmag® is a unique galvanized coating on steel that consist of 11% aluminum, 3% magnesium and the remaining 86% is zinc.
Environmentally conscious, we worked hard to produce Zalmag®, which is made of 95% recycled material and is thus a 100% recyclable product! This creates a 10X plus corrosion resistant factor than traditional galvanized coatings.
Zalmag® weathers from an engaging silver color to an attractive bluish grey tone. Our shingles use the Zappone System, which has been proven for more than 40 years.
The Zalmag® material is available in 16", 20", and 24" coil form or sheets up to 48" x 120". The material is also available in 18, 20, 24, or 26 gage. Please call us about custom fabrications.
The TiNi and LIC colored stainless is available in various gages but limited to flat sheets up to 48" x 120" (we do not offer colored stainless in coil form.) Please call us regarding custom panels and finishes.
